Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

We made it home safely!! Shooooo going to two cons in a row was tough

Florida was awesome though and we even managed to make a little pit stop to Disney World before heading home

I wanted to post a little list of Cons we are attending/Hoping to attend and get everyone's thoughts on which cons you'd like to see us at, and which cons you'll be attending this year

Here's our Confirmed Cons list so far:

Katsucon - National Harbor, Maryland
Momocon - Atlanta, Georgia
Bellecon - Jacksonville, Florida
AMA - Chesapeake, Virginia

Those are the only cons I KNOW We're going to. We're still debating about a lot of other cons

So I wanted to ask you guys, which cons would you like to see us at? Which cons do you usually go to every year? And if you could only go to ONE con this year, which con would it be?

xD If you ever come up to Canada come to the Saskatoon Blitz! (June 8 and 9)! Our Con is still very small compared to other places, but there is more of a community sense and you can actually meet people easier. Our Artist Alley is top-notch, too~ (Saskatonians are good artists... how else do you get through 7 months of winter?)

Yay! I'll be at Katsucon!! I'll make sure to stop by! I also usually attend Otakon, and I'm hoping to go back to Anime USA this year. Those are the only cons I know I'll be going to this year, some others are still up in the air for now (time and money and whatnot)
